In Leah's Wake by Terri Giuliano Long

In Leah's WakeIn Leah's Wake by Terri Giuliano Long

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Get In Leah's Wake here.

This novel follows the lives of a family in major turmoil. A girl with everything going for her falls in with the wrong crowd and her life spirals down, taking the entire family with her. This story hit home for me as a similar situation happened in my own family. Children always think they know better than adults and this novel encompasses that perfectly. Long does show the more extreme side of the dangers that can happen but she does it in a way that keeps the reader turning the pages.

My only real beef with this book was that I kept getting up and making my way to the kitchen for food! That's right, I was hungry a lot when reading this! The characters in the novel seem to center their lives around food, as if it brings them peace. I can understand this, as it works as a good distraction. The only thing is Long goes into such detail, down to every morsel of food, that I gained a few pounds during the reading process...

This was definitely a great story and worth every second spent reading it.

  1. Thank you so much, Courtney! Reading your review, I smiled. Funny how you don't notice something yourself - but, then, in another life I might have been an international food writer. I guess it shows. :) I appreciate your lovely review and I'm grateful to you for hosting me today!

    Warmest wishes,

    Terri
